REFLECTION

Experience

I remember the first time coming to this class, the first thing that I saw when I come to this class is how crowded the class is, the class is quite huddled. After that I saw the lecturers for the first time, the lovely Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsul, the first time I saw them, I actually they are a bit intimidating. My knowledge about typography was very minimal before coming to this class because all I know about typography is lettering and calligraphy, so I didn't really expect much from this class and turns out I was way underestimating this class. As soon as the first-day class start I was already overwhelmed and anxious on what will come throughout this module,  I was questioning will I be able to keep up and follow through this module. As it turns out that typography was the most stressful module of this program I took and oh perception about typography is wrong, it wasn't as simple as its sound and actually, it's still baffled me how much works it took to works on this exercises and project, all through all the hard work I did in this module, I'm sure it wasn't any compared to the designer or the typographer around the world. It was definitely a nerve-wracking and still gives me anxiety when the lectures seeing and judging my works, but I highly appreciate all the thing I have learned throughout this module, taking  Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsul class has changed me the way I look at the world I begin to look all types of font and writing on the streets, brand and many stuff and I begin to appreciate more design out there after experiencing how hard it is to make the right layout for the paragraph, making all font, even just choosing the right type family. There so many thought and process that is put on this works.

Observation

Although it is been 13 weeks into the module somehow that our typography class is so big that I couldn't even have the changes to talk to everyone on  this class, I don't even know many peoples names in this class, I guess the typography class has a really cramp schedule that there not even time to get to know people in this class. Seeing all the work I did, never before I would able to believe that I am able to make an animation or make my own font it is pretty cool stuff, the project that really got me is the making font it is so hard and stressful, the amount of details and stuff that goes to it is a lot and I have to redo it over and over again because I kept making a mistake, even though it is a hard thing to do but definitely worth it.

Finding

Typography has been my stressful class in this first semester of BDCM no doubt in that, there so many tedious works has to be done, there definitely many things that I wish I knew beforehand like how to use adobe illustrator, Indesign and how to make a blog there are many things that needed doing, in really cramped schedule, I found that it is really important to not waste any time, having a six-hour class we should use that time to do as much as we can so later on its doesn't become as much as a weigh for us later on, to be able to manage time is really important in typography class and in life general. Things I hope I understand better is how to receive a feedback, at first if I receive a negative feedback I usually just said okay and not to do much about it, but now I realize that it is really important thing for everyone, although it sucks to get a negative feedback, and its hard to process it and I would wish that I never received it in the first place but I have learned that people giving me feedback is doing me a favor, I realize that there is no point on complaining of what have been instructed to us but use it as a guide to be better, I want to improve more and I wish someday my future self looking back at my old works, and be proud of it.
